Stone Week

From Monday 03 August 2015
To Friday 07 August 2015

Five days of great sailing and social events - on the Blackwater

Join us for Stone Week for a fun filled event for the whole family!

Sailing is either two or three races every day and takes place between Osea Island and Bradwell-on-Sea on the estuary of the River Blackwater, which is one of the best stretches of sailing water anywhere in the country.

Racing will either be around the club “cans”, or doing triangles and sausages, or windward leewards, from the Committee boat, depending upon conditions, with Wednesday being a fun day with a change of race format to make sure things don’t get too serious.

Competitors are divided into individual classes, if there are enough boats for class racing, plus super-fast, fast and slow handicap fleets. Last year there was class racing for Squibs and Unicorn catamarans (who were having their Nationals as part of Stone Week) plus a very competitive super-fast fleet comprised mainly of Hurricanes, and over 40 boats in the fast and slow handicap fleets.

All of course, subject to weather conditions.

Catering Arrangements

The galley will be providing meals and snacks from breakfast through to dinner.

Note: The galley service will close after lunch on Wednesday to allow for preparation of the inclusive BBQ.

Meal Prices obviously depend on what you want to eat, but a two course evening meal is about £12.00.

Bar facilities

The bar(s) will be open from noon until late. There are two bars - a 'wet bar' downstairs (for that quick pint after racing) and the main bar on the lounge deck.

Accommodation and Camping

There are limited (free) camping facilities for tents and camper vans within the club area itself and a variety of other local facilities. Check 'Accommodation' on the website for full details.

Launching and retrieval

Facilities exist to launch all boats at the club. Non-keel boats can launch at any state of the tide, down the beach. Keelboats, such as Squibs, use our gantry, launch trolleys and moorings. Launching is tide dependent - please contact Tony on to arrange time and date.

There is no charge for this service.
